Coronavirus
has been showing its dominance since the beginning of last year. Currently, the
second wave of this deadly virus has put the countrymen to sleep. Hundreds of
millions of people have already been affected across the country. At the moment
we all almost understand that taste or odorlessness may be the first symptom of
being infected with this virus. According to an American magazine, out of six
million corona infections, about 6 percent of patients with mild to moderate
infections lose their sense of smell. At the same time, the number of patients
who have lost their sense of taste is almost the same.
Dr. Jennifer
Prabhu has come up with a number of recipes and strategies to restore your
taste and smell after the effects of coronavirus have gone away. In his words,
there is a daily habit that will stimulate the olfactory nerves and help them
return to normal.
Sour - If you start your diet with
something sour like pickles, lemons or tamarind, it will stimulate your
salivary glands. It can enhance the taste of the rest of your food.
Umami - Umami literally means "taste
addiction" in Japanese. It is now considered the fifth flavor (including
sweet, sour, bitter and salty). Umami foods like soy sauce, garlic, miso,
mushrooms, potatoes and truffles also help stimulate your salivary glands.
Spicy - Capsaicin, the main ingredient in
many spicy foods, has the ability to improve the function of the olfactory and
nerve glands.
Chocolate - There is no excuse to eat
chocolate, right? Believe it or not, the taste of chocolate is the only taste
you can get even if you lose it.
Texture
- You can use different
types of textures in your food list according to the above topics. If soft
texture is a problem for you, you can also eat some crunchy foods. Sometimes it
is easier to eat drinkable food.
Temperature - It has been observed that many
corona patients prefer cold food to hot food. In that case you can eat it
without heating it. In this case you try to eat cold soup.
Most
importantly, try not to be discouraged at this point. You need to keep trying
different foods to get your taste buds back on track. If this week, no
particular food tastes good, try again in a few days. This way you can notice
changes and improvements in your taste.
