Rhino is taller than a giraffe! Length 20 feet while standing. Weight more than 20 tons. These beasts are very different from the rhinos we know in today's world. They ruled the world two and a half billion years ago. These rhinos roamed freely throughout Central Asia.
An almost complete fossil of a rhinoceros found in Gansu Province, China. The study was published in a research paper published in the journal Nature on June 18. These rhinos could be seen about 26.5 million years ago. According to the study, they spread from Tibet to various parts of Central Asia.
The giant rhinoceros is considered to be one of the largest mammals of all time. In particular, their skulls and legs are larger than the known species of rhinos, and even larger than all the mammals found so far.
The ‘close relatives’ of the modern species, these rhinos have been named Paraceratherium lingiaeans. It's not just that they were long. Body weight was more than the giant elephants of Africa! Scientists have found out a lot of information about the fossils by looking at them. From which it is easy to guess what kind of tremors were created in the ground when these giant creatures were walking on the earth. However, it is believed that their noses were not usually like swords. Rather, their noses were flat and straight. The back side was also kind of pressed.
It is not new that there were giant creatures in the past world. Many species of dinosaurs once ruled the world. But such a giant species of rhinoceros has not been known so far.
