A few days ago, NASA's Curiosity rover sent a picture of clouds in the sky of Mars. This time the Chinese rover Jurong took a 'selfie'. Its solar panels were seen as wide as wings in the news. The two cameras are like eyes. Astronauts are fascinated by his picture taken on the red soil of Mars.
China's space research agency CNSA has published the image on their website. Not only that picture, but also more pictures sent by Jurong have been published. There are different regions of Mars taken from a scientific point of view.
Regarrding to the selfie it was said, it was taken after walking about 10 meters on the rough ground of Mars. Another camera was used to take the picture, which was mounted on the underside of the car. After taking the picture, it reaches Jurong with the help of wireless signal. From there it is delivered to Earth by an orbiter orbiting Mars.
The Tianwen-1 spacecraft from Beijing landed on Mars in May. The Rover Jurong is named after the Chinese mythological fire god. Jurong will visit there on at least 90 Mars days. It will collect various samples in the long run. The structure of the surface of Mars will be examined. Will look for ice. If an important issue comes to light, Jurong will also observe it in a special way. China has high hopes for the Mars mission.
Incidentally, the Chinese spacecraft entered the orbit of Mars last February. At the same time, American and Arab spacecraft entered the orbit of the Red Planet. US rover Perseverance landed on Mars last February. Three months later, a Chinese rover landed there.
